Projection Makes Perception?

My lawn is full of weeds – dandelions, clover, crabgrass, tree seedlings, and many more of which I don’t know the name. I was just looking at the grass and mentally tallying all the imperfections when a lady walking her dog across the street shouted her appreciation for my lawn. Loudly so that I can hear her from afar, she said it was very nice and green! Huh? I turned around and looked with new eyes at my yard. Yes, I admitted to myself, it was green and lush all over. Bright colors dotted it here and there from my flowers. Birds and wild animals were frolicking around.

Thank you, stranger, for bringing my focus to the beauty and not the imperfections! For reminding me that the world is nothing but what I choose to see.

Projection makes perception. The world you see is what you gave it, nothing more than that! But though it is no more than that, it is not less. Therefore, to you it is important. It is the witness to your state of mind, the outside picture of an inward condition. As a man thinketh, so does he perceive.
