A Day of Thanksgiving

Give thanks today
For what you are.
Be mindful.
In quietude, sit
And meditate on who you are.
You are not the little self
Of your imaginings.
You are an immense being
With shimmering wings.
Spread them and use them as a shield
Against the black thoughts of despair.
Love is where your home lies;
The blanket covering you at night;
The comforting touch from another.
Be grateful for what you are!
